CONTI
A persuasive case for renovating properly, even when “good enough” feels terribly tempting.
Conti was one of those rare apartments that could have survived without a major renovation. It had already been redone, just not very well, which can make starting over feel terribly wasteful. Thankfully, our client insisted on doing it properly. We replaced the floors, plumbing, windows and electricity, moved the kitchen south, added a second ensuite bathroom and created generous mirrored storage around the bed. Then we layered in mid-century accents, antique lighting, contemporary art and wallpaper. The result proved that “good enough” is rarely good enough – and our client was thrilled.

“… It was 100 degrees, I had a plane to catch, the apartment wasn’t finished and I was almost ready to quit! And then, within hours, the contractors removed all of their equipment, and we were allowed to install the furnishings, the art, the accessories and the flower boxes and suddenly this gorgeous pied-a-terre came to life, more beautifully than we even imagined – and I said, bring on the next one!”
