Unlike many apartments we take on, this one had held onto its beautiful original ceiling moldings. We were thrilled to find them, but moving rooms and removing walls meant recreating large sections from scratch. Our contractors painstakingly matched every curve and detail, allowing us to add a bedroom and enlarge the main bedroom without losing what made the apartment special. The new work now blends so seamlessly with the original 19th-century design that it is nearly impossible to tell where one ends and the other begins.
