Not every Haussmann apartment has been stripped of its history. This one presented the opposite challenge. Its elaborate interiors had gone from grand to gilded and gaudy. Our brief was to preserve the elegance but quiet it down to make it homey and comfortable for a large family. We softened and neutralized the palette, introduced inviting upholstery and completely redid the kitchen and bathrooms. Carefully chosen art, lighting and accessories brought back the sophistication. The result feels polished but relaxed, understated but still Parisian, and perfect for its St. Germain neighborhood.
